Spring is in the Air in Grand Rapids
Wow!! The sun is out and what a day. No snow to be seen anywhere although it did snow briefly yesterday, little flurries. This is the first day I did not wear a big winter coat. Awesome. So I walk out onto my deck and I can tell that soon there will be signs of life. Spring is in the air here in Grand Rapids and not a minute to soon.
So I walk out onto my deck and breath in the spring air. Look around the deck and think to myself it is grill season. This is our second summer in the house. Last year we went to Lowes on 28th Street (They need to contact Manobyte to get them listed properly on Google..Anyway) and we bought A new Grill, Deck Furniture, and all that other fun stuff in preparation for chillin’ on the deck.
One of the biggest reason for buying this house was the backyard.
Prior to moving to Grand Rapids we lived in Marshall, Michigan. There we had an awesome backyard. Eventhough behind our house was the main road that went through Marshall you would have never known it. I had huge trees that blocked everything for sight. When we started looking for a house in Grand Rapids I wanted to live close to work. Which I do, did, Oh I will tell yo about that one later, anyway… as we looked at house about 30 or so most of the houses that we looked at had backyards that overlooked someone else yard or house. We just did not want that. This house was great because as you can see there is a pond , trees that are full in the summer and it is on protected wetlands so noone will ever build behind us. How great is that!
There are houses to the left and the right of us but the previous owners had two trees strategicly brought in and placed so that in the summer you can barely see our neighbors house. Not that we do not like our neighbors, they are great and all but there is nothing like sitting out on the deck look at and just enjoying a scenic view.
So spring time is time to break out the grill. Of course I did grill out this winter, you should have seen me standing in 6 inches of snow, boots, gloves, hat and coat grilling steaks. But those were the best steak we have had. We got them at Meijer and I should have taken note of the cut but they were fantastic. Know that spring is here I will be grilling out at least once if not twice a day. I’ll share some of my recipes with you other’s well if I told you I would have to kill you, so I guess those will stay with me.
